Pictured Wheeling Sportsman - Bernie Witaszek
of Warren, MA with his 1st bird ever.

Bird was harvested on only his second day of hunting ever.

Bird weighed 24-1/2 lbs on state scales.

Harvested in Monson, MA.
Guide was Norman Plante of Monson, MA

Phil McCarthy Board Member and his cousin Justin Torelli (a NE Chapter member) with his first Merriams turkey ever, in Wyoming, it wieghed in over 20lbs., he shot a second one in South Dakota that had a 10-3/8th in. beard and 1-3/8th in. spurs!!

Phil McCarthy Board Member with a turkey he shot near Devils Tower, Wyoming. Shot right at flydown, had flock of 20 birds coming into field from rim-rock tree tops, flying in right over our heads and running into field from the right, shot him as he came into strut and gobbled on the run!! . .

Jack Hathaway a dedicated Turkey Hunter proudly shares this nice 9 point PA buck he harvested from a 23 Acre ridge top plot of ground less than 7 miles outside Pittsburg, PA in the Fall of 2006.

Some people just need to see your long beard to believe the story. So here's one 11.25".

The spures that this MA Eastern used to defend his turf follow next picture down.

A Real Limb Hanger - Here are the stickers (spurs) that accompanied the beard above.

These "Limb Hangers" worked just fine. I was able to hang the turkey by his spurs from a stout limb. Wanted to see if the old adage was true. Spurs measured 1-3/4" and the other just under 1-3/4".

Expose them as young as possible to the excitement and they will likely be the ones waking us out of bead to head into the woods when we get older.

What a great hunt. The Gobbling was knocking the doors down. 19 lb bird with 9.5" beard and 1" spurs.

It is amazing what you will find while wandering in the Spring turkey woods. Aren't memories like this worth the days jaunts up and down mountains in search of an elusive gobbler.

A 6 bearded bird.

Bill Tatro with a 150 Class whitetail he harvested in his home state of RI.

This is a True Ohio Monster Whitetail. Nice to dream of seeing one this size while on or in your stand.

Brian Korte and friend Brian Fenner enjoy hoisting their strippers. Both fish measured 46 inches, the one on the left weighed close to 40 lbs and the one on the right topped 30 lbs.

Many sportsmen enjoy both hunting and fishing. The state of Massachusetts offers ample opportunities to wet a line.

Some times the big boys just need some play time. This picture came to me via the internet so I don't know the background but it looked fun!

What we all want to see at 25 - 30 yards responding to our soft pleading yelps-n-purrs.

Another great shot of a turkeys head while in strutt.

Nice Beard big boy.

Phil McCarthy 2007 - NY 2nd day, killed one with 1 1/4 in spurs. Fair to very good gobbling as each day passed, but still having little luck with birds coming to call. My bird was basically an ambush hunt, 8am, farm field, as they worked uphill, jake and hen decoy out, no calling, birds not talking after flydown at all, patience, wait for the 2 toms to work to the jake, dominance displaying, they split, looker holds up at 50yds, big boy works in slowly, 30yds - hello Nitro loads - SMACKDOWN!!!

AJ Capece a Northeast Chapter member 2007, killed his first bird on a NY trip! Bird was - 19 lbs, sported a nice 9 in. beard and 5/8th inch spurs.

NE Mass Chapter Sponsor Tom 2007 sporting a nice 21 lbs bird with 10" beard and 3/4" spurs.

Wild Turkey Nest with 12 eggs
found on State Forest property in Western MA mid May 2007, nest was at the base of a tree in a wet thicket area. The nest was sitting about two or three inches higher than surrounding ground.

Strut Zone - 6 mature gobbblers use the Mass Road Departments carefully constructed clearing for their strutting zone.

Strut Zone 2 - Now we see why as the hen parades in from the left.
